As unofficial Toronto Catholic District School Board Staff Arts Major Musical photographer (a title I single-handedly created just now), I have to do actor headshots and production photos every year. And, every year, I try something new for the headshots
That way, the actors that I see from year to year don’t get overly bored with the same old thing – they get to keep the headshot at the end of the production as a memento.
Also, instead of posed theatre stills, as is usually done, the Staff Arts invite senior citizens and groups to view the dress rehearsal on the eve of opening night. I cordon off a section of seats, and click away as the magic happens onstage. I probably annoy some people with my shutter whirring away, but that’s the price you pay for paying a lower price. Value, my friends. Value.
It was a great show, check out tcdsb.org/staffarts for more information on 2010′s shows.
