  • Rangefinder Magazine, the official publication of the WPPI (Wedding and Portrait Photographers International), has been in print since 1952 and is one of the premier information sources for professional photographers today. Not to mention, one of my favourite magazines (and I’m totally addicted to magazines)!

And, I’m in the June issue.

Okay, it isn’t the way I wanted to be highlighted in it. I thought ‘Wedding Photographer of the Year,’ or ‘World’s Most Amazing Portraits,’ or ‘Damn dis guy be gangsta!’ would be more appropriate, but one takes what one can get, and it could have been worse – ‘This Photographer Has Cooties and is a Stinky Bum Bum Poopie Face’ comes to mind…

Rangefinder’s twitter account asked where it’s followers saw photography going in the next 5 years, and thanks to my sarcastic sense of humour, my reply was one of 19 chosen for publication in an article called ‘The Future – In 140 Characters.’

As an explanation for non-photo people, Bokeh is the ‘out of focus’ area of a photo, it’s Japanese or something, and ‘Guys With Cameras’ or GWCs, a derogatory term for amateur photographers who think their knowledge of photography rivals Ansel Adams, tend to spend their time online looking for flaws in technique or equipment so they can prove to others why your choice in equipment is crap. Bokeh is one of the things they focus on, trying to decide which lens is better for creating the non focus elements of a photo.

You’re right, the proper answer is ‘Who cares, it’s out of focus!’

Shout out to Nicholas Bombich since we follow each other on Twitter.
