Monthly Project – November

Posted by christopher on November 17th, 2009

I really have to find a name for this project.  Anyways, October’s shoot was SO successful, I almost immediately went hunting for November.  And I wasn’t disappointed in what I found.

Within a week and a half of October’s shoot, I contacted the staff of BSE Pro Wrestling, got a response, and nailed a date and location for the shoot, their November show at the Markham Fair Grounds.  Now, normally the arena there is for showing off livestock, and the seating floor was covered in dirt, and the backstage where I was located smelled like cow poo, but it was awesome.

BSE (formerly Blood, Sweat & Ears) is one of the most successful independent pro wrestling organizations in Canada, and arguably North America.  Getting to talk to these young performers following their dream was very uplifting and refreshing, and despiote the fact all of its secrets have been told years ago, it was still magical to see them work out their matches before they went out and fought.  I even got to shoot independent star Johnny Devine!

Even if you’re ‘above that kind of thing,’ I urge you to go check out a show.  The wrestlers are talented, they do a great job, and you’ll be quite entertained.  And go see their website.

A special thanks goes out to Arda Ocal and Tom Harbin for contacting me so quickly, and all the wrestlers who let me backstage.
