I wanted to lay off the heavy photoshop this year, and drop an homage to Alex Ross.  Easy, since Hannah decided in April to be Harley Quinn for Halloween, and there was nothing I could do to disuade her.

As an avid comic reader in my youth - I practically learned how to read on tattered issues of  Spider-Man - I have always been drawn to the art style of the classics and through the 80s.  I lost it a bit in the 90s, but look up Rob Liefeld and you'll understand.

Alex Ross, however, is next level.  Using guache paints, putting fabric folds into the costumes, painting true to life figures, but not so true to life that you think it's a picture of some chump in a Halloween costume...  His artwork is revolutionary and awe inspiring.

While Hannah's just wearing the costume from the DC SuperHero Girls line, with the mask photoshopped into her eyes to look more in line with the cartoon, Gwen isn't actually wearing much makeup at all!  The white pancake makeup ended up flaking badly (and as usual, it rained Halloween Night in Oshawa...) so I ditched that, augmented the hairspray, painted lipstick on her a la Cesar Romero, and just photoshopped her face white.  I ended up liking it better that way, because Cesar Romero is more in keeping with Gwen's personality.

So I guess, this year could really be called...  Gwen-aween?

No, that's terrible...
